What a fantastic week of racing at the Swim England Summer Meet in Sheffield!
Day one saw Gabi take on the 400m freestyle, while Emma secured her place in the 50m freestyle final, where she finished 8th overall.
Tuesday brought the first medal of the week, with Emily P producing a fantastic swim in the 1500m freestyle. She claimed silver in a season’s best time of 18:34.71.
Wednesday saw Emily S finish 15th in the 200m freestyle, while Johnny and William both achieved new personal bests in the 200m breaststroke, finishing 23rd and 11th respectively.
Emily P returned to the pool on Thursday for the 800m freestyle, producing another solid swim in the second-longest pool distance.
On Friday, Emma continued her brilliant week in the 100m freestyle. She improved on her entry time of 1:00.32 with a 1:00.10 in the heats before breaking the one-minute barrier for the first time in the final. Her new personal best of 59.98 secured an impressive 6th-place finish.
Saturday brought the championships to a fantastic close. Amrit improved his 400m individual medley entry time of 5:09.03 to 5:02.21 in the heats before producing a huge swim of 4:51.85 in the final to claim a superb silver medal in his final race of a very busy and successful two weeks.
Looking back across the past fortnight, Amrit also broke the 13-year-old Kent record in the 200m freestyle at the Next Generation Championships. Bexley finished joint 60th out of 220 clubs in the Next Generation medal table.
